AIR PURIFYING PLANTS

Many common house plants act as great natural air purifiers. Fill your space with greenery for a breath of fresh air.

Research done by NASA has shown that, in addition to taking up carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen, certain tropical plants can reduce levels of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) like benzene, formaldehyde and trichloroethylene in the air, which are especially common in new furniture, appliances, electronics and building materials. These compounds combined with a closed air system can lead to 'Sick Building Syndrome'. We recommend you have at least 1 or 2 large plants for every 100 square feet of indoor space. Microorganisms in the soil can also help clean the air. Healthy soil makes for healthy plants and cleaner air. The organic plant foods we sell in the shop help encourage beneficial soil microorganisms while gently fertilizing plants.

Spending time around plants is proven to improve physical and mental health, as well as having the added benefit of being beautiful to look at. Plants are also proven to increase creativity, productivity and concentration, making them an invaluable addition to a work environment.

We always have an assorted selection of Air Purifying Plants available for purchase at the shop. Call, email or visit the shop if you'd like to discuss custom designs or orders.
